You want to bet on Fedor Emelianenko vs. Chael Sonnen? Now’s your chance.
Fedor Emelianenko picked up his biggest win in a few years when he stopped Frank Mir in 48 seconds at Bellator 198. That allowed him to move onto the semi-finals of the promotion’s Heavyweight Grand Prix, where he’ll be fighting Chael Sonnen. While the fight doesn’t have a venue or a date yet, it does have a betting line. And Fedor has opened as the early favorite:
Sonnen (31-15-1, 2-1 Bellator), who has spent the majority of his career fighting at middleweight or light heavyweight, defeated Quinton Jackson in his quarter-final matchup back in January at Bellator 192. He came into that bout as an underdog, despite the line opening even.
Emelianenko (37-5, 1 NC, 1-0 Bellator) was a slight underdog to Mir leading into their matchup.
As mentioned, the bout doesn’t have a set venue or date as of yet. Bellator CEO Scott Coker has indicated that they’ll likely fight in August or September. There is still one quarter-final matchup to go, with Mo Lawal and Ryan Bader set to face off later the month. The winner of that bout will face Matt Mitrione in the other semi-final bout.
