Tony Ferguson has challenged Michael Chandler to a showdown in December.
Tony Ferguson appears to be warming up the idea of a fight with Michael Chandler.
After initially dismissing Chandler is an unworthy contender, ‘El Cucuy’ has done a 180 and challenged the former three-time Bellator lightweight champion to an end-of-year showdown in December.
“‘Time-2-Rise’ # D’arceKnightRises … Again ?? Lets Close out 2020 In Style. Michael Chandler you Putz, Ya Asked For It. # AddedToTheListBish’ CSO™? December. @ufc @mikechandlermma #My Mat -Champ,” Ferguson posted on Instagram on Friday.
Ferguson’s response comes just days after Chandler called out the UFC veteran on Twitter earlier this week.

“Glad We Got Some Answers. Now Where You At @tonyfergusonxt?” Chandler posted on Tuesday.
Ferguson hasn’t fought since his fifth-round TKO loss to Justin Gaethje at UFC 249 whereas Chandler is looking to make his UFC debut following his signing with the promotion earlier in September.
Chandler is riding a two-fight KO streak over Sidney Outlaw and Benson Henderson whereas Ferguson is looking to rebound from his loss to Gaethje and spring back into title contention. Prior to his loss to Gaethje, Ferguson was on a twelve-fight win streak and considered the No. 1 lightweight contender in the world.
