“Tony Ferguson, along with his new management team, are meeting with UFC brass today in Las Vegas to discuss his future, sources say,” Helwani posted yesterday.
Shortly after Helwani’s tweet, Ferguson took to Instagram to confirm the news, tagging the UFC performance Institute in Las Vegas as his location.
‘El Cucuy’ also included a video montage to hype his return to the Octagon.
“I’m Back MF’s” – Champ Shit Only,” Ferguson posted on social media.
The MMA veteran also posted a picture with UFC president Dana White, with the caption ‘building bridges.’
Ferguson, the former interim UFC lightweight champion, hasn’t fought since his stoppage win over Anthony Pettis at UFC 229. The 35-year-old was reportedly battling with mental health issues but was recently cleared to fight after passing a medical evaluation.
The Ultimate Fighter 13 winner is considered one of the best lightweight fighters in the world and is currently on an eleven-fight win streak, netting wins over the likes of Pettis, Rafael dos Anjos and Edson Barboza.
Expect Ferguson’s next fight to be announced in the coming weeks.
