Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) had to make a few changes to its upcoming UFC 231 pay-per-view (PPV) fight card, specifically to the Fight Pass “Prelims” portion of the event. That’s because Jesse Ronson, a late replacement for the ailing John Makdessi, was ruled medically unfit to compete.
As a result, “The Body Snatcher” was handed his walking papers.
Taking his place on just a few days notice is the once-beaten Kyle Nelson (12-1), who joins the promotion on the strength of a six-fight winning streak. The lightweight “Monster” was last seen planishing Morteza Rezaei under the RXF MMA banner back on Nov. 18.
After what happened to Ronson, I’m assuming Nelson is at or close to weight to be allowed to hit the scale on such short notice. As for Ferreira, I’m sure he’s just happy to still be fighting, even though he’s afforded little time to formulate a new gameplan.
