Former WEC featherweight/bantamweight fighter Wagnney Fabiano (14-3) has been released by Zuffa, after apparently not signing with the UFC after the merger with the WEC following it’s last event in December.
This is a likely an example of those fighters who were signed to the WEC but failed to move their contract to the UFC for whatever reason. Without WEC events to fight at, but still being under Zuffa contract, these fighters would be forced to wait for the end date of their contract before moving on with their careers.
Tatame.com posted the notice on Tuesday.
Besides winning four of his six fights under WEC banner, sources told TATAME.com that the fighter was cut by Zuffa and didn’t signed with the UFC after the merge with UFC.
Fabiano had a 4-2 record with the WEC losing his last appearance to Joseph Benavidez at WEC 52, ending a two fight win streak for the Brazilian.
