After a successful title defense at UFC 255, the UFC is already setting up another championship bout for Deiveson Figueiredo for December.

On Saturday night at UFC 255, Deiveson Figueiredo cemented his status as the new king of the UFC’s 125-pound division. With an impressive submission victory over Alex Perez, the UFC is already setting up the second title defense for the champion. It will be against Brandon Moreno, who also competed at UFC 255.

Company president Dana White himself made the announcement during his post-fight media scrum, stating the “God of War” will likely return as early as December.

“We’re gonna keep him here, he’s not going back to Brazil. We’re gonna turn him right around,” White told reporters.

Moreno has been vocal about his disappointment when he got passed over for the title shot after Cody Garbrandt pulled out of the Figueiredo fight in October. Earlier in the night during the prelims, the number one-ranked flyweight re-established himself as the rightful title challenger through a first round TKO win over rising prospect Brandon Royval.

According to White, Figueiredo vs. Moreno will likely be part of UFC 256 on December 12 at the APEX Facility. Both fighters have already verbally agreed to the match up.
