When a fighter drops a hotly-contested split decision, they typically go after the cageside judges for getting it wrong. But in the case of Andre Fili, who came up short against Michael Johnson at UFC Lincoln, he went after “The Menace.”
Johnson didn’t have anything to do with the scorecards, but may have squeaked by with a win that could have arguably gone to his hot-headed opponent. Either way, the judges got a free pass in Fili’s post-fight rant.
“I WON that fight,” Fili wrote on Instagram. “Plain and simple. My preparation was perfect and my performance was superior. The universe provides challenges and rewards us for the way we react to and navigate through them. All I’m going to keep focusing on is what I can control. I’m hungrier than ever and I’ll be back better than ever. Thank you to everyone who has my back, I love ya’ll. With that said, @menace155 you hit like a bitch and you act like a bitch- I’m ready to crack it off anytime.”
Johnson, who dropped to featherweight after an inconsistent run at 155 pounds, was also active on social media following last Saturday night’s event on FOX Sports 1, but omitted the questionable decision and instead focused on his victory.
The loss snapped a two-fight win streak for the “Touchy” UFC featherweight and dropped him to 18-6 overall. As for the 32 year-old Johnson (18-13), the victory ends a three-fight slump and marks his first at 145 pounds.
