Bringing you the weird and wild from the world of MMA each and every weeknight!

Welcome to Midnight Mania!

For the 42nd time, a handful of top prospects put it all on the line tonight (Tues. Oct. 5, 2021) from inside the UFC Apex in Las Vegas, Nevada on Dana White’s Tuesday Night Contenders Series (DWCS). Per usual, all of the athletes were especially aggressive, as finishes and violence are really the only way to guarantee a contract.

A boring win just isn’t enough for UFC President Dana White.

This week, four new up-and-comers made their way to the UFC ranks. Of the victors, only Joseph Holmes did not receive a contract, but he’ll have a second chance to impress White on an upcoming episode of “Lookin’ For A Fight.”

There were some quick finishes and an all-action brawl. Check out the highlights below!

Mike Malott defeats Shimon Smotritsky via first-round guillotine

Carlos Hernandez defeats Daniel Barez via split decision (29-28, 28-29, 29-29)

Fernie Garcia defeats Josh Weems via first-round knockout

Joseph Holmes defeats Shonte Barnes via second-round rear naked choke

Genaro Valdez defeats Patrik White via second-round knockout

Insomnia

This is a fairly quick turnaround for Kevin Holland given he was flash KO’d on Saturday night.

CLASS from Robbie Lawler:

Who is Canada’s best hope for a ranked fighter at the moment? Tanner Boser?

Thiago Santos reveals some insight into his (relative) timidity:

The legendary Jordan Burroughs secured his fifth Worlds win (six if we count his Olympic run).

NFT goofiness aside, holding mitts for Ciryl Gane looks like a challenge!

Khabib with Cristiano Ronaldo:

Slips, rips, and KO clips

Israel Adesanya did a Naruto-themed synchronized dance then twice knocked out the other best Middleweight of the last half decade. Insanity.

AND THE MOUTHPIECE GOES FLYING!

This is a really creative display of jiu-jitsu. Transitioning between the triangle to omoplata was sweet, but then managing to twist up the arm after the roll was really nice.

Random Land

Sand transportation:

Midnight Music: I would name “lonesome” as the greatest/most iconic single word in country/western music, but “ramble” is a good one too.

Sleep well Maniacs! More martial arts madness is always on the way.
