Rob Font picked up a huge win over Cody Garbrandt at UFC Vegas 27 last weekend, giving him his fourth straight victory in a stacked Bantamweight division. Ranked No. 3 at 135 pounds, Font doesn’t want to waste anymore time in his bid to compete for UFC gold.

That’s why the New England Cartel-trained fighter wants the promotion to give him a fight against former division champion, Petr Yan. To make it even sweeter, the bout should be for the interim title since current champion, Aljamain Sterling, is on the mend.

“Best case scenario? They give me Petr Yan right now and we get it going,” Font recently told MMA Fighting. “Maybe do it for an interim belt, but I doubt that happens. We’ll see what’s up, but give me Petr Yan. He’s the only one available, the fans want to see exciting fights and I know that’s an exciting fight and then I’ll take care of the belt for him. Just sit back, don’t worry about the belt, I’ll take it for him.”

If the promotion decides to book a rematch between Yan and Sterling, then Font has his eyes on the upcoming bout between Cory Sandhagen and T.J. Dillashaw set to go down on July 24.

“Or, the loser, winner, whoever, of the Cory Sandhagen-T.J. Dillashaw fight. I definitely don’t want to wait that long, though. But you never know what happens if someone gets hurt, injured, that’s another waiting list I could potentially be on.

“Realistically, I know I don’t want to fight backwards. I’ll be patient. I’ve sat a year and I know what that feels like. There’s no need to fight anyone that’s behind me right now.”

Font has some good suggestions but all he can do now is sit back to see just what the promotion plans to do with Sterling and Yan. If you were the matchmaker, who would you want Font to face next?
