Former Russian mixed martial arts champion Arkady Lisin was found dead in Krasnodar, Russia. The news was first reported by the Prime Fight Management organization, which promoted his fights.
“Arkady died suddenly on February 27. The causes of death are being investigated,” Prime Selection revealed.
The 21-year-old was found in his home in Krasnodar, Russia, where he was born and raised. It remains unclear how the fighter died, though some reports suggest it was due to cardiac failure.
Lisin was a heavyweight fighter with a 6-2 professional record. He became the Prime Selection champion in 2016 and also performed at the Plotforma S-70 international sambo tournament in 2017.
This marks the latest incident involving the death of an MMA fighter. On February 7, Russian boxer Alexander Kostromin was found murdered in the Belgorod region of Russia. On February 17, a martial arts champion was killed after allegedly picking a fight with a security guard at the Ministry of Digital Development and Mass Communications in Moscow. In March, MMA fighter Ahmed Hasanov was killed in a kebab house shooting.
