Matt Mitrione was looking to snap his cold streak earlier tonight (Fri., July 16, 2021) in the co-main event of Bellator 262 against Tyrell Fortune. Instead “Meathead’s” woes only got worse.

Very early in the first round, Fortune dove in for an early takedown which he eventually got. Once on the ground, Mitrione was livid, telling Dan Miragliota that he was hit with a headbutt, which he was. Nevertheless, Fortune continued on the attack, tagging his foe with relentless ground and pound.

After some adjusting from Fortune and more complaining from Mitrione, Fortune put his foot on the gas pedal and unloaded more punishment from the top position. Unable to escape the swarm of punches, Mitrione eventually tapped to strikes.

Afterward, Mitrione became even more livid upon seeing the replay of the inadvertent clash of heads and started screaming at anyone and everyone close to him. Nevertheless, the damage had already been done. Fortune continues his ascension up the Heavyweight ladder while “Meathead” has now lost four of his last five fights, with the other fight being a No Contest.
