MMA: UFC 206- Cerrone vs Brown

Donald Cerrone holds the record for most finishes (as well as most wins) inside the Octagon with 16. It should come as no surprise to anyone, really, as “Cowboy” has long been one of the most exciting fighters in the game who always prefers to let it all play out in the striking department.

Though he has been known to submit a guy here and there.

One of his best finishes came back in 2016 at UFC 206 when he faced fellow longtime veteran and striker, Matt Brown. Throughout the first two rounds, both combatants were content with playing a striking battle, with each landing some good shots on the other. But as history has shown, once the fight goes into the later rounds and Cerrone starts getting warm, he can explode at anytime.

Just ask Georges St. Pierre.

And that’s just what happened a minute into the final round. After whiffing on a left hook to the body, Matt was the recipient of a kick to the face from Cerrone, who dropped “The Immortal” with his perfectly-placed shot. Knowing the fight was done, “Cowboy” just stood over Brown and refused to land unnecessary ground-and-pound on has fallen foe.

Cerrone, though, has fallen on hard times inside the cage as of late, losing his last two. But he will look for a resurrection of sorts as he is set to welcome back Conor McGregor at the upcoming UFC 246 event on Jan. 18, 2020 in Las Vegas, Nevada.
