Before Tony Ferguson puts his lightweight belt on the line against Khabib Nurmagomedov at UFC 223 on Sat., April 7, 2018 inside Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York, take a look back at one of “El Cucuy’s” most impressive performances.
Back in May of 2016, Ferguson found himself face-to-face with former division champion Rafael dos Anjos in the main event of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) Latin America 3 Finale in Mexico City. What ensued was an intense and exciting five-round fight that saw both men have their shining moments.
When it was all said and done, however, the judges awarded Tony a unanimous decision victory, giving him his ninth straight win at the time. Now, “El Cucuy” will look to solidify his status as division champion when he is (finally) locked inside the eight-sided cage against “The Eagle” after three previous attempts to do so were nixed.
