Darren Till will look to earn his second straight win at Middleweight this Saturday night (July 25, 2020) when he takes on former division king, Robert Whittaker, in the main event of UFC on ESPN 14 from inside Flash Forum on “Fight Island.”

In his debut at 185 pounds, “The Gorilla” faced Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 244 last November. The move up a weight class was prompted by two straight losses at Welterweight, which included a submission loss to the now-former 170-pound champion, Tyron Woodley.

His fight against Gastelum was a fairly-close one throughout the 15 minutes of action. And though he did enough to squeak out a win, many felt Kelvin should have gotten the nod. Since then, Gastelum has fallen further down with two more losses (this one included), while Till is looking to spoil Whittaker’s return and go two-for-two in his new division.

With a win over “The Reaper,” Till could shake up the division and slide into a title fight or, at the very least, a title eliminator bout against Jack Hermansson who is also eying his first shot at winning UFC gold.

Israel Adesanya is all set to defend the belt against Paulo Costa at UFC 253 on Sept. 19, 2020, so the rest of the division is now jockeying for position. And once the dust settles on Yas Island in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, we could have a much clearer picture.
