In 2017, Jessica Andrade came up short in her bid to win the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Strawweight title, losing to former champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk at UFC 211.
Three impressive wins later, Jessica will get another opportunity to win gold when she takes on current champion Rose Namajunas in the main event of this Saturday night’s (May 11, 2019) UFC 237 pay-per-view (PPV) event in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.
Before then, let’s take a look at one of Jessica’s most dominant wins during her recent streak, a vicious knockout victory over former title contender Karolina Kowalkiewicz last September at UFC 228.
From the jump, and aggressive Andrade came out swinging, rocking and dazing Karolina in the first 15 seconds of the bout. And she didn’t let up one bit, clipping the Polish-born fighter at will.
After surviving the initial onslaught, Karolina started finding her range a bit. But nearing the two-minute mark, Andrade unleashed a vicious right hand the put Kowalkiewicz out for the count. Now, Jessica will look to achieve her championship dreams by attempting to defeat a champion who hasn’t tasted a loss in three years.
In the co-main event, Anderson Silva will make his return to face off against Jared Cannonier, while Jose Aldo and Alexander Volkanovski collide in a pivotal Featherweight showdown.
