Most of the mixed martial arts (MMA) community was up in arms when longtime middleweight contender, Yoel Romero, was unable to make weight for consecutive title fights against Luke Rockhold (interim) and Robert Whittaker.
Some folks were upset that “Soldier of God” would torpedo the pay-per-view (PPV) main events, while most were just simply concerned about the Cuban’s health, particularly after this video was released.
Not middleweight mauler Paulo Costa.
”The fact that he has trouble make weight cheers me up,” Costa told MMA Fighting. “It’s 20 percent more going to my pocket. Everything I want is him to miss weight. Get there heavy and give me my 20 or 30 percent. Thirty is even better. That’s all I want. Yoel Romero, eat a lot and get there heavy, please. I want your 30 percent.”
Considering what Romero makes (sample here), that’s a pretty sweet bonus.
Costa and Romero are expected to fight at the upcoming UFC 230 pay-per-view (PPV) event, scheduled for Sat., Nov. 3, 2018 inside Madison Square Garden in New York City; however, “Soldier of God” still has to get medically cleared after his recent surgery.
That’s probably why “The Eraser” is still waiting for his soon-to-be light heavyweight opponent to sign the contract, while he also waits for his opponent to stuff more food in his face and come in fat for their “Empire State” showdown.
