Four years ago Pereira’s parents were living in rough conditions. Now the light heavyweight champion has moved them into a mansion.

Alex Pereira is living his best life, and he’s making sure those that helped him along the way are too.

In a new post on X (formerly Twitter), the light heavyweight champion shared two photos.

“Photo 1: Four years ago having lunch at my parents house,” he tweeted, showing him sitting in a rough-looking room with exposed brick sitting on a cheap couch. “Photo 2: Their home today. Thank you very much my God.”

Photo 2 is an impressive modern-style two story mansão with massive windows and beautiful marble. It’s a major upgrade for his parents, who worked hard to provide for “Poatan” and his siblings.

“My dad would buy us shoes at the end of the year, and we would have to make them last the whole year,” he reflected in a video for Complex where he ends up buying some $2100 Air Jordan IV Retro shoes. “I never thought I’d pay this much for shoes. It’s unthinkable for me.”

Pereira seems to be ruminating a lot on his past and present, with another post on his X account showing him dead-eyed in front of a bunch of beer cans from 2009. Alex has talked a lot about how he was an alcoholic since he was extremely young and how it was his decision to stop drinking entirely that began him on his path to becoming a UFC champion.

2024 Pereira: dapper in an expensive suit, still kinda dead-eyed, but like a shark — moving forward, succeeding, devouring everything in his path.

“Thank you God,” he wrote once again in that photo.

Pereira is a two-division champion and the guy the UFC calls whenever they need someone to step up and fill a gap on the schedule. Things have been relatively quiet for “Poatan” since he beat Khalil Rountree Jr. at UFC 307 at the start of October. He fought three times over the course of six months, which is wild to do even before you factor in doing it at a championship level.

It seems like the UFC is finally giving him a bit of a break, but we doubt it will be very long. Will Pereira return against the last contender standing at 205, Magomed Ankalaev? Or will the UFC give in to Jon Jones’ desire to set up a superfight between the light heavyweight champion and heavyweight champion? Let us know what you want to see next, Maniacs.
