UFC women’s flyweight Sarah Frota has run afoul of USADA and no longer fights for the UFC.
Sarah Frota is not a member of the UFC roster any more following a two-year suspension issued by USADA for a failed drug test in-competition for steroids around UFC 240. Frota, who was stopped by Gillian Robertson at the Edmonton event, had her fate announced in a release by the US Anti-Doping Agency yesterday:
“Frota Lima, 32, tested positive for multiple stanozolol metabolites, including 16?-hydroxystanozolol, 3’,16-dihydroxystanozolol, and 4?,16-dihydroxystanozolol, as the result of an in-competition urine sample she provided on July 27, 2019 at UFC 240 Edmonton, where she lost by technical knockout. Stanozolol is a non-Specified Substance in the class of Anabolic Agents and prohibited at all times under the UFC Anti-Doping Policy, which has adopted the World Anti-Doping Agency Prohibited List.”
Frota was 0-2 in the UFC overall. Not long after the suspension was announced, Damon Martin of MMA Fighting (via colleague Guilherme Cruz) confirmed that she had been released from the UFC on Twitter:
Update on this story — per @guicruzzz, Frota has been released from the UFC. https://t.co/nmNafh1aYn

Frota is eligible to return to competition on July 27th, 2021. However, since many commissions outside the US don’t honor USADA suspensions, you can probably expect her to to fight in Brazil sooner than that.
