Reug Reug went to 3-0 with a brutal beating of Patrick Schmid.
Oumar Kane aka ‘Reug Reug’ made short work of his third pro MMA fight at last night’s ONE on TNT 1. The Senegalese wrestling star seized his opportunity to impress in front of the most eyeballs he’s had on him to date, as he took down and pounded out poor Patrick Schmid.
See how the whole fight went below:
Schmid was a late replacement opponent for Kane. He came in on 24 hours notice and had been preparing for a kickboxing match on the same card. As you can see, whatever he was preparing for it wasn’t the 265 lb MMA neophyte. In their fight Kane blitzed Schmid with a flurry, took him down and then landed heavy ground-and-pound for the win.
Initially Kane had been scheduled to face BJJ star Marcus Buchecha in a bizarre match-up that would serve only to dull the shine on one of ONE’s two most interesting acquisitions.
After Buchecha withdrew due to injury, Kane was matched against 4-3 Mehdi Barghi. Barghi pulled out at the last minute from either injury or the sight of Reug Reug, who knows?
After a long wrestling career in Senegal, Kane debuted in MMA in 2019. At ARES FC 1 he defeated Sofiane Boukichou by second round TKO. His ONE Championship debut was this January versus Alain Ngalani. Kane won that bout by first round TKO.
