The boxing legend has backed Conor McGregor to beat Dustin Poirier in the trilogy at UFC 264.

WBC heavyweight boxing champion Tyson Fury is picking fellow Irishman Conor McGregor to beat Dustin Poirier at UFC 264, promoting the matchup whilst training at the UFC Performance Institute in Las Vegas, Nevada earlier this week.

“My prediction for the McGregor-Poirier fight is that I think McGregor will win this time,” Fury, who is expected to take on Deontay Wilder in a trilogy bout of his own on July 24, said in a UFC video promo on Monday. “I think he’s trained hard, and he’s got it all to prove. It will be a great event and one to watch. Tune in.”

McGregor holds a first-round knockout victory over Poirier back when both men used to compete at featherweight in 2014. Poirier avenged that loss by KO’ing McGregor in a lightweight matchup at UFC 257, tying the score 1-1. The highly anticipated trilogy bout will headline this Saturday’s blockbuster UFC 264 PPV at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas, Nevada.
