Mickey Gall won’t have to travel too far for his next fight, as the Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight contender has been booked to face off against Salim Touahri in his home state of New Jersey.
Indeed, UFC announced earlier today (Tues., July 9, 2019) that Gall (5-2, 4-2 UFC) and Salim (10-3, 0-2 UFC) will throw down at the upcoming UFC on ESPN 5 event on August 3 in Newark, only 40 minutes away Green Brook, where Gall was born.
Mickey is looking to get back in the win column after coming up short against Diego Sanchez in his previous fight, losing via technical knockout at UFC 235 this past March. Since making his Octagon debut back in 2016, Mickey has earned a 3-2 mark for the promotion, scoring notable wins over CM Punk and Sage Northcutt.
Now, the “Lookin’ For A Fight” alum will look to put on a show for the hometown crowd.
Salim, meanwhile, hasn’t had much success inside the eight-sided cage, losing his first two fights to Warlley Alves and Keita Nakamura, both via decision. This is a must-win for the 29-year old, as dropping his first three UFC fights won’t look good on his resume.
UFC on ESPN 5 will be headlined by a Welterweight bout between Colby Covington and Robbie Lawler. Also, Volkan Oezdemir and Ilir Latifi collide in Light Heavyweight action, while Jim Miller and Clay Guida duke it out at Lightweight.
