A scheduled bantamweight fight between James Gallagher and Patchy Mix — which was set to go down at the upcoming Bellator 258 event on May 7 — has been cancelled. According to MMA Junkie, Gallagher withdrew from the fight for undisclosed reasons.
Gallagher has been on a tear as of late, winning four in a row including three stoppage victories and was most recently seen defeating Callum Ellenor at Bellator Milan last October via submission. Mix, meanwhile, is 2-1 under the Bellator MMA umbrella and was last seen coming up short to Juan Archuleta at Bellator 246. The promotion is currently looking for a replacement to allow Mix to remain on the card.
Bellator 258 will feature a bantamweight title fight between division kingpin, Juan Archuleta, taking on Sergio Pettis. In the co-main event, Anthony Johnson will face Yoel Romero in an opening round bout of the promotion’s Light Heavyweight Grand Prix. Also, Michael Page will face Derek Anderson in welterweight action while Valerie Loureda takes on Hannah Guy.
