Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) bantamweight champion Cody Garbrandt will look to win his second straight fight for the first time in over four years when he throws hands with No. 3-ranked contender Rob Font in the UFC “Fight Night” main event on May 22, according to ESPN.
A city and venue for their 135-pound clash has yet to be determined.
Garbrandt (12-3) was mired in a three-fight losing streak but returned to form with a knockout win over Raphael Assuncao at UFC 250 in June 2020. Unfortunately for “No Love,” his momentum was halted by a nasty bout with COVID-19.
As for Font (18-4), he’s quietly assembled a three fight win streak dating back to summer 2018. His last appearance ended with a technical knockout victory over former bantamweight champion Marlon Moraes at UFC Vegas 17.
The May 22 event will also feature the strawweight battle between Carla Esparza and Yan Xiaonan. Elsewhere on the card, heavyweight hurter Justin Tafa goes to war with Jared Vanderaa.
