Gegard ‘Big Mouth’ Mousasi on getting ‘screwed’ by UFC: ‘They should pay me more’

Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) middleweight contender Gegard Mousasi is heading into the final fight of his current contract, which means “The Dreamcatcher” will be a free agent on Sunday morning.

By choice.

That’s because the world’s largest mixed martial arts (MMA) promotion is screwing Mousasi at the bargaining table, leaving the former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion no choice but to gamble on winning his next bout.

Mousasi vents to MMA Fighting (via Bloody Elbow):

“When you get screwed, you’re going to say that. A couple of months before, and last week, they came up with a contract (offer). We didn’t like it. This week, they wanted to have a contract negotiation, but I’m in fight week. I’m not going to do contract stuff. They should pay me more. I’m worth more. I don’t have extreme demands, they should pay me what’s fair. I have to perform at the end of the day. Once I perform, I can have demands. If I lose the fight, it is all for nothing, so let me win the first fight, and I’ll have a big mouth.”

Big mouth = big paycheck.

This argument will be moot if Mousasi (41-6-2) is unable to overcome the attack of former middleweight champion Chris Weidman (preview), who looks to snap a two-fight losing streak at the expense of “The Dreamcatcher” at UFC 210 this Saturday night (April 8, 2017) in Buffalo, New York.

A win and it’s this argument. A loss and it’s … a reunion?
