Strikeforce’s final event is starting to fill up.
Light heavyweights Gegard Mousasi and Mike Kyle have agreed to meet on the Jan. 12 card. Kyle announced the news in a YouTube video (posted below), and MMAFighting.com confirmed it with sources close to the event.
Mousasi (32-3-2) hasn’t competed since Dec. 2011 when he defeated Ovince St. Preux via unanimous decision. Since then, the former Strikeforce light heavyweight champion underwent ACL surgery, which put him out of action this year.
Kyle (19-8-1, 2 NC) was submitted by Rafael “Feijao” Cavalcante in 38 seconds in May, however, the result was changed to a no contest after the California State Athletic Commission announced Cavalcante tested positive for a banned substance after the fight.
The Jan. 12 Strikeforce card will take place at the Chesapeake Energy Arena in Oklahoma City. The main card will air on Showtime, while the undercard will air on Showtime Extreme.
