The heavyweight boxing legend weighs in with a bold take.

Conor McGregor getting knocked out by Dustin Poirier has seemingly put any potential boxing match with Manny Pacquiao on ice, but that hasn’t stopped boxing legend George Foreman from having a surprise opinion on the matchup.

The former heavyweight champion and ex-HBO commentator is of the belief that he’d rather see Conor in boxing matches long-term than MMA, and while he offered absolutely zilch in the way of actual analysis, he thinks McGregor could beat the Filipino legend.

“I think if he has a fight with Pacquiao he can actually beat him – good rules, over 10 rounds, McGregor can beat him,” Foreman said to The Irish Mirror (via MMA Fighting). “He’s already adjusted to boxing, he’s not going to do good in MMA anymore. Pacquiao is very good as a matter of fact, but McGregor can beat him in a boxing match.”

You may recall that McGregor took on Floyd Mayweather in 2017 in a blockbuster pay-per-view, with Conor losing by 10th-round TKO in Mayweather’s final (for real) professional bout. He has often discussed the capability of competing in both sports, and he seemed noticeably crestfallen over the Pacquiao fight after his UFC 257 defeat.

Pacquiao hasn’t fought since beating Keith Thurman to win the WBA welterweight title in July of 2019. There’s no word yet on his next opponent but the expectation is that he will fight again this year.

So anyway, has anyone ever bought or owned a George Foreman Grill?! Those things are pretty good.
