Georges St-Pierre isn’t scared of Nick Diaz, would beat him ‘way worse’ than he did at UFC 158
A fight that happened almost three years ago between Nick Diaz and former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) Welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre sure has been stealing headlines as of late.
That has many thinking a rematch between the two talented welterweights could be a possibility. And if that’s the case, “GSP” won’t shy away from it, as he recently told Bloody Elbow that he isn’t afraid of Nick and would beat him worse than he did the first time.
“I have no problem with Nate. It seems to me to me like it’s Nick Diaz that is running for another shot at me. I wouldn’t mind, I’m not afraid of Nick Diaz, I’ll tell you. I am telling you right now: If it’s what the fans want to see, I’m in.”
For Georges, it doesn’t matter if it’s his first fight back or not, he is more than confident he will take Diaz out and beat him worse than he did in their original encounter.
“I don’t care if it’s the first, or second, or third. If they want me to fight Nick Diaz it would be my pleasure. I don’t mind, I am not afraid of Nick Diaz, I beat him last time, and I’ll beat even worse, I’ll beat him way worse next time that I’ll fight him. I beat him last time easily, but I was not happy – It’s one of these fights that I’m not happy with. Because I didn’t feel like I gave enough, for different reasons. It left me angry that fight, when I look back at it – maybe I won, but for some reason it left me angry and I feel like I could have done so much better.”
Nevertheless, St-Pierre has already entered the USADA testing pool, which means he will be eligible to compete in around four months.
But first, he has to find a suitable foe and more importantly, his management team and UFC officials have to come to terms on payouts, as he revealed that’s been a sticking point in ongoing negotiations.
Nothing wrong with wanting to get top dollar for your services, right Nate?
