The doctor who repaired former UFC welterweight champion Georges St-Pierre’s right knee will also repair his left one.

St-Pierre, who is on sabbatical from the sport, has kept in shape during his break, but he tore his left anterior cruciate ligament while wrestling last week in Montreal.

On Wednesday’s edition of UFC Tonight, MMAFighting.com’s Ariel Helwani reported that St-Pierre will undergo surgery next week in Los Angeles under the care of Dr. Neal ElAttrache.

ElAttrache, a noted sports surgeon whose clients include basketball superstar Kobe Bryant, operated on St-Pierre’s right knee in 2011, after GSP suffered an ACL which kept him out of action for a year and a half.

St-Pierre, meanwhile, isn’t the only star with knee rehab on the agenda. UFC middleweight champion Chris Weidman recently underwent the minor knee surgery which caused him to pull out of a May title date against Lyoto Machida. Helwani reported Wednesday that Weidman’s surgery was a success and the champion is already off crutches.
