Ultimate Reno Combat 27 – Unequaled

Northern Nevada’s premier cage fighting event returned as Ultimate Reno Combat 27 presented Unequaled to a rowdy crowd at the Grand Sierra Resort in Reno, Nevada. The 9-bout card was filled with knockouts and submissions as 8 fights ended in dramatic fashion. There were two titles on the line and the champions lived up to their billing.

In the main event, Lightweight Champion Delorean “D-Lo” Heaivilin (8-0) remained undefeated as he beat challenger Brandon Ricetti (3-2) by submission via triangle choke in Round 1 to retain his title in the 155 lb division. Heaivilin wasted no time and brought the fight to Ricetti who was a game fighter while it lasted. Heaivilin showed off his powerful grappling skills as when the fight went to the mat, the champion transitioned into a triangle for the tapout victory. Along with the victory, Heaivilin also continues his streak of finishing his opponents remaining perfect in that too. In the co-main event, Champion Brandon Frunk (10-2) defeated Rodney Canlas (1-1) via submission by rear naked choke in Round 2 to retain his 135 lb championship. For the Bantamweight Champion, Frunk, it was a tough win against an up and coming challenger. Canlas, to his credit, proved that even with limited cage experience he was still worthy to battle for the title as he gave Frunk all he could handle until the final moments when Frunk showed the heart of a champion and slapped on the choke for the win.

In other action, Corey “Agnarr” Wyatt (10-2) defeated Albert Townsend (0-4) by armbar submission in Round 1 in a battle of light heavyweights. For Wyatt, he definitely has the record and skill set to compete for the Ultimate Reno Combat Light Heavyweight Championship. That could be the next test for the up and coming 205 lb contender.

Watch the champions of tomorrow compete today! Don’t miss this loaded event with 8 of 9 bouts ending in either knockout or submission as Northern Nevada’s only cage-fighting organization, Ultimate Reno Combat 27 presents Unequaled exclusively on pay-per-view on GFL.tv.

MMA Xplosions – Team Qualifier

The highly successful Las Vegas-based promotion, MMA Xplosion (MMAX) presented another terrific card with Team Qualifier at the world famous Joint inside the Hard Rock Hotel and Casino. The card had 12 total fights with some of the best amateurs on the MMA scene competing against one another and they delivered with 8 of the bouts ending in either knockout or submission. The main event was a high stakes affair as the winner would be offered a professional contract with MMA Xplosion, while the other bouts where being contested with the prize of joining one of two Las Vegas-based MMA teams – the Scorpions and the Spiders.

In the main event, Cesar Campos (9-1) defeated Rudy Morales (7-2) via unanimous decision after three grueling rounds in the 145 lb division. It was a battle of two top amateurs and showcased exciting striking exchanges, fluid grappling and back and forth action. Campos took the decision mainly because of his ability to dictate the pace of the fight, and he kept the heat on Morales throughout the entire bout. For Campos, the win also signifies a new chapter in his career as his next bout will be as a professional with MMAX as he won the contract by defeating Morales. For Morales, he showed great skills inside of the cage too and a pro career is something he should consider as well.

In the co-main event, Joey Angelo (8-5) defeated Ramon Hernandez (3-2) by TKO in Round 1. Angelo stuck to his game plan and picked his shots hurting Hernandez and getting the ref stoppage victory early in the opening round. Angelo looks to be a top pick of either the Scorpions or Spiders in the 170 lb division.

In other action, David Jordan (9-1) defeated David Tompkins (4-2) via armbar submission in Round 2. The victory will likely mean Jordan is also going pro or is now a part of the Las Vegas team based circuit. Whatever the future holds for Jordan, he is sure to be a hot commodity for future fights.

With 8 out of 12 fights ending by KO or submission this is an explosive card that will whet the appetite of any MMA fan. Be sure to catch all of the action from this exciting card as MMA Xplosion presents Team Qualifier exclusively on pay-per-view VOD at GFL.tv.
