With a main event set, the UFC is working towards filling up its debut card in New Zealand.
A light heavyweight bout between Gian Villante and Anthony Perosh is in the works for the UFC’s debut in Auckland, New Zealand on June 28, according to sources with knowledge of the situation. The promotion has yet to officially announce the fight.
Villante (11-5) is coming off a unanimous decision loss to Fabio Maldonado last month. Prior to that, he won his first fight inside the Octagon by knocking out Cody Donovan at UFC 167.
The 41-year-old Perosh, who hails from Australia, will look to rebound from a unanimous decision loss to Ryan Bader in December. That loss halted his momentum following his 14-second knockout of Vinny Magalhaes at UFC 163.
The event, headlined by Nate Marquardt vs. James Te Huna, will air on Fight Pass in the United States from Vector Arena.
