“Goku” is no longer an Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) fighter.
Today (Mon., Dec. 30, 2024), MMA Latinoamerica revealed that Peruvian UFC Lightweight James Llontop has been released from his contract after going 0-3 in the promotion.
MMA Latinoamerica added that Llontop already has a fight for Fusion Fighting Championship (FFC), the promotion for which he held the Welterweight championship.

Llontop (14-5) received his UFC contract after defeating Malik Lewis in season seven of the Contender Series. However, that is his most recent win, as he went winless inside the UFC.
“Goku” fought three times in 2024, missing weight twice. He kicked off his year against Chris Padilla as a heavy -450 favorite, but ultimately, he lost a unanimous decision. For what it’s worth, Padilla was his third opponent change in two months.
Llontop then fought Viacheslav Borshchev in an absolute three-round war and lost a split decision. Three months later, the Peruvian fighter turned around, stepping up on short notice to fight top prospect Mauricio Ruffy at UFC 309 in a losing effort.
While Llontop went 0-3 before being cut, all three of his fights were very entertaining, but ultimately, the weight misses more than likely cost him his job.
At only 25 years old, there is a good chance “Goku” will fight his way back to the largest fight promotion in the world, with a few big wins on the regional scene.
