UFC 178 - Poirier v McGregor

Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) two-division champion Conor McGregor, who often refers to himself as “Mystic Mac” (among other things), is calling his shot ahead of the UFC 257 pay-per-view (PPV) event, which takes place Jan. 23 on “Fight Island” in Abu Dhabi.

And Dustin Poirier fans are not going to like it.

“I like Dustin, I think he’s a good fighter,” McGregor said in the upcoming “Countdown to UFC 257” video special, which airs next Sunday on YouTube. “He’s even a great fighter. But great is still levels below me. I’ll knock Dustin out inside 60 seconds.”

McGregor also predicted a first-round knockout when they went to war at UFC 178 back in 2014 and delivered on that promise with relative ease. Poirier would later claim “Notorious” has the hardest hands he’s ever felt, though “Diamond” also insists he’s a much different fighter since their first go-round.

“The whole journey has been incredible,” Poirier said. “I’m doing what I love to do. January 23rd, I’m gonna get my hand raised by any means necessary.”

We’ll find out in less than two weeks.
