Undefeated (5-0, 1-0 UFC) jiu-jitsu sensation Kron Gracie is close to booking his sophomore fight inside the Octagon, as ESPN reports that Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is eyeing a fight between the submission ace and Cub Swanson for a Fight Night event on October 12.
Kron burst onto the UFC scene earlier this year at UFC on ESPN 1, submitting Alex Caceres in the very first round in Phoenix, Arizona (see it). Prior to that, Gracie went 3-0 under the Rizin banner, collecting big wins over Tatsuya Kawajiri and Hideo Tokoro. To nobody’s surprise, all five of Gracie’s wins have come via submission.
His next challenge promises to be his biggest to date, as Swanson is one of the more-experienced fighters in all of MMA, having competed in 36 pro fights, sharing the Octagon with a who’s who of stars such as Frankie Edgar, Brian Ortega, Jose Aldo and Max Holloway, just to name a few.
Over the last few years, however, things haven’t gone too well for Cub, dropping his last four fights since 2017, earning him the longest losing streak of his career. Now, the former World Extreme Cagefighting (WEC) star will look to get back into the win column by taking out one of the more-promising fighters in the Featherweight division.
The pair will likely co-headline the Fight Night event on ESPN+, in a city and venue to be named later. The headlining act will feature a women’s Strawweight showdown between former division champion Joanna Jedrzejczyk and Michelle Waterson.
