Junior dos Santos won’t fight Alexander Volkov in Moscow due to a bad case of staph infection.

Former heavyweight champion Junior dos Santos is not going anywhere near a gym for the time being. Once scheduled to meet Alexander Volkov at UFC Moscow, ‘Cigano’ was forced out of the main event due to a bad staph infection, which required emergency surgery in his left leg.

On his official Instagram page, Junior posted a series of graphic pictures from the hospital, showing both wounds in his leg. The infections are being treated, but the shots are from up close and graphic, discretion is advised. You can see them below.

In his last fight, Junior dos Santos (21-6) was knocked out by Francis Ngannou in the first round, back in June. The loss snapped a three-fight winning streak for the 35-year-old, who had wins over the likes of Tai Tuivasa, Blagoy Ivanov and Derrick Lewis.

Now, Alexander Volkov is expected to meet Greg Hardy at UFC Moscow’s main event, on November 9, in Russia.
