Former Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) lightweight sensation Melvin Guillard, who punched his way into Octagon infamy by way of The Ultimate Fighter (TUF) season two, will make his return to mixed martial arts (MMA) opposite Erick Lozano at the upcoming Lights Out 7 show scheduled for Sat., Feb. 8, 2020 inside DeltaPlex Arena in Grand Rapids, Michigan.
Guillard (32-21-2, 3 NC) has not won a fight since blasting Gesias Cavalcante under the World Series of Fighting (WSOF) banner back in summer 2014. Since then, the not-so-young “Assassin,” 36, has dropped eight straight fights, which includes four consecutive knockouts and one No Contest (failed drug test). His recent attempt to enter the world of bare-knuckle boxing resulted in a broken hand.
As for Lozano (10-15), his last three fights have all been against Marcus Maulding, rebounding from a knockout loss to the former middleweight to score back-to-back finishes of his own. Prior to his stint for Lights Out, the 37 year-old Lozano was a fixture for Knockout Promotions in Michigan, battling the likes of former UFC veterans Terry Martin (win) and Joe Riggs (loss).
Lights Out 7 will air by way of FITE.tv with the first bout getting underway at 7 p.m. local time. In addition to Guillard vs. Lozano, Mando Gutierrez and Adam Kehr will hook ‘em up in lightweight action.
