Alexander Gustafsson releases his first statement following his submission loss to Fabricio Werdum on Saturday.

Alexander Gustafsson’s heavyweight debut at UFC on ESPN 14 didn’t quite go as planned, as the former UFC light heavyweight title challenger was submitted by heavyweight veteran Fabricio Werdum in the first round.

Gustafsson, who came out of retirement to try his luck at heavyweight, released the following statement on social media.

“It’s sucks to lose but I’m alive and healthy it’s a sport, a sport that I love! Thanks Werdum for a great fight and the @ufc for the opportunity! Now let’s celebrate my brother and teammate kamza borz!!! He’s coming for everyone, be ready,” he posted on Twitter.

Gustafsson, who is most known for his Fight of the Year epic with Jon Jones at UFC 165, retired after his submission loss to Anthony Smith at UFC Fight Night 153 but announced that he would be making a comeback at heavyweight earlier this year.

The UFC veteran is 0-3 in his last three fights and hasn’t tasted victory in the Octagon since his knockout win over Glover Teixeira in 2017.
