Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) is working on a heavyweight showdown between power-punching bruisers Greg Hardy and Khalil Rountree for the upcoming UFC 252 pay-per-view (PPV) event, recently made official for Sat., Aug. 15, 2020 inside UFC APEX in Las Vegas, Nevada.
That’s according to a report from Combate.
Hardy (6-2, 1 NC) got back into the win column with a unanimous decision win over Yorgan de Castro on the UFC 249 fight card back in May. Prior to that, “Prince of War” was outstruck by veteran contender Alexander Volkov as part of the UFC Moscow event last November.
As for Rountree (8-4, 1 NC), he’s looking to finish up his truncated combat sports career in the win column, having been put away by Ion Cutelaba at UFC Denmark his last time out. The 30 year-old “War Horse” has been increasingly vocal about his desire to retire from competition.
UFC 252 is expected to be headlined by the heavyweight rubber match between Stipe Miocic and Daniel Cormier. Also getting work done in the 265-pound division will be heavy-handed sluggers Junior dos Santos and Jairzinho Rozenstruik.
