Dan Hardy says Tyron Woodley is reluctant to sign the contract for their boxing match in the UK.
After weeks of speculation, former UFC fighter and analyst Dan Hardy has revealed that he has signed a contract to box Tyron Woodley in the UK in the first quarter of 2022. There’s just one problem: ‘T-Wood’ doesn’t want to fight.
‘The Outlaw’ told Submission Radio during a recent interview that he is waiting on Woodley to fulfill his end of the bargain and sign the contract.
“My contract is signed. And I know that he’s got a contract sitting in front of him, and the deadline is approaching, and he doesn’t want to sign it,” Hardy said. “And I don’t know why. I don’t know what the deal is because terms have been agreed, money’s been agreed, date’s been agreed, rules and conditions, weight class—everything’s been agreed. But he hasn’t yet signed the contract. So you tell me. Tyron Woodley, why have you not signed it, The Frozen One?”
“It’s a new promotion, but it’ll be the first quarter of next year in the UK. That’s the plan. That’s the deal. And the money they offered him is good, and they agreed to it. I know it’s more than he’s getting anywhere else as well. That’s a fact. So he needs to strap on a pair and sign the contract so we can get this done.”
Woodley, the former UFC welterweight champion, most recently fought at a Showtime Sports event where he dropped a split decision loss to YouTuber-turned-boxer Jake Paul at the Rocket Mortgage Fieldhouse in Cleveland, Ohio on Aug. 29.
Hardy hasn’t fought since his diagnosis of Wolff-Parkinson-White syndrome in 2013. The Brit fought for the UFC welterweight title against Hall of Famer Georges St-Pierre in 2010 but came up short in his bid to become the promotion’s first British champion.
Hardy was relieved of his commentating and analyst role with the UFC earlier in March but is still considered one of the finest analysts in the game.
