After making her successful Featherweight debut by defeating Courtney King at Invicta FC 43 a few weeks ago in a bloody brawl (see it again here), two-time Olympic gold medalist, Kayla Harrison, is ready to jump right back into the cage.
The current Professional Fighters League (PFL) Lightweight champion will make her return to face off against Jozette Cotton at Titan FC 66 on Dec. 17, 2020. Harrison already has a win over Cotton, defeating her via technical knockout (TKO) at PFL 6 in 2018 in what was Kayla’s second pro fight.
Harrison, who is undefeated at 8-0 with six finishes, has only been fighting professionally since 2018. In that time, the judoka has already made her mark in the sport of mixed martial arts (MMA), becoming champion in just a year and a half.
Should she keep on her winning ways and if Claressa Shields — who recently signed on with PFL to initiate her crossover into MMA — can rack up some impressive wins in a hurry, it may not be too long before they find themselves staring each other down inside the cage.
While PFL is on hiatus until early 2021, the promotion has allowed its roster of fighters to seek fights elsewhere, as long as it’s not for Bellator MMA or Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC).
