Britain’s Scott Askham scored what may very well be the most entertaining finish of the nine-fight “Prelims” portion of the UFC Fight Night 84 card today (Sat., Feb. 27, 2016) in London, England.
Askham traded takedowns with the gritty American wrestler Dempsey for the majority of the first frame. The 27-year-old landed a throw of his own midway through the first frame as Dempsey looked to continue closing the distance.
Askham attacked from the bottom with an armbar and didn’t take much in the way of damage. He kept the fight standing just long enough to light up the Pennsylvania native with a left hand-high kick combo, which ended the latter’s night as the first frame was about to come to an end.
Askham improves his overall record to 14-2, while Dempsey drops to 11-4.
