A pivotal welterweight matchup between Hector Lombard and Neil Magny has been added to the UFC’s return to Brisbane, Australia.
UFC welterweight contender Hector Lombard will return to the Octagon following a year layoff against rising star Neil Magny in the co-main event of UFC Fight Night 84 in Brisbane, Australia. UFC officials confirmed the news on Monday afternoon.
Lombard (34-4-1, 2 NC) tested positive for performance-enhancing drugs following a UFC 182 victory over Josh Burkman, which was overturned to a no-contest afterwards, and was handed down a 1 year suspension by the Nevada Athletic Commission. The former Bellator champion is currently riding a three-fight unbeaten streak with previous wins over Jake Shields and Nate Marquardt.
Magny (17-4) was riding an impressive seven-fight winning streak throughout 2014 and 2015, but in the biggest fight of his career against Demian Maia, he was dominated and submitted in the second round last August. He rebounded quickly, however, with two short notice wins over Erick Silva and Kelvin Gastelum (the latter was a five-round main event).
