Cuban-Australian middleweight Hector Lombard’s next fight will take place on familiar ground.
Lombard will meet Rousimar Palhares in the main event of UFC on FX 6 on Dec. 14 in Australia, UFC president Dana White announced on Friday. According to UFC officials, a city and venue in Australia has yet to be finalized to host the event.
While not yet officially announced, the event is expected to also showcase the lightweight and welterweight finals of The Ultimate Fighter: Australia vs. UK, as well as a lightweight fight between coaches Ross Pearson and George Sotiropoulos.
Lombard (31-3-1, 1 NC), the former Bellator middleweight champion, lost his UFC debut in July to Tim Boetsch via split decision. This will mark his 23rd fight in Australia.
Palhares (14-4) most recently lost via first-round TKO to Alan Belcher at UFC on FOX 3 in May. He was supposed to fight Yushin Okami at UFC 150 last month but an injured knee forced him out of the bout.
UFC on FX 6 will mark the promotion’s fourth event in Australia.
