Johny Hendricks missed weight, then lost his UFC 200 bout vs. Kelvin Gastelum in Las Vegas, Nevada. It looks like Hendricks isn’t interested in competing in Vegas anymore.
Former UFC welterweight champion Johny Hendricks is on the first losing streak of his career, having dropped a unanimous decision to Kelvin Gastelum at UFC 200. Believe it or not, Hendricks is now 0 for his last 4 fights in Las Vegas, and just 2-5 overall in Sin City.
In his post-fight interview, a disappointed Hendricks essentially declared he’s finished fighting in the city.
Johny Hendricks: I’m kind of over fighting in Vegas. I love the people here but man it is what it is.

Hendricks (17-5) failed to make weight for the Gastelum bout, adding another chapter to his long history of bad weight cuts. Amazingly, this is the first time he’s actually missed weight to the point of forcing a catchweight bout. The loss also extended his streak to 7 fights since his last KO win, which came against Martin Kampmann in 2012. He is likely to drop out of the top 10 at welterweight, a weight class he very well abandon/be forced to abandon for middleweight.
With that quote from “Bigg Rigg” coming through, I hereby declare a new MMA mythical figure – Las Vegas Hendricks. He ranks well below Sea Level Cain.
