Henry Cejudo takes on Wilson Reis at UFC 216

Flyweights and recent UFC title challengers Henry Cejudo and Wilson Reis will clash in Edmonton.

Former flyweight title challengers Henry Cejudo and Wilson Reis have agreed to meet at the next UFC card in Canada, as the UFC officially announced that matchup on Wednesday.

On a two-fight losing skid, Cejudo (10-2) was TKO’d by Demetrious Johnson when he challenged for the title in 2016. The loss was followed up by a very close split decision defeat to Joseph Benavidez in December. Cejudo’s last win came in November 2015, when he defeated Jussier Formiga by split decision, which earned him the title shot against “Mighty Mouse.”

Submitted with an armbar by the champion in his last fight, Wilson Reis (22-7) will look to begin a new run and pick up from where he left off before the title fight. He was riding a three-fight winning streak, with wins over the likes of Ulka Sasaki, Hector Sandoval, and Dustin Ortiz. The loss to Johnson was the first time he’d ever been submitted.

In addition, a women’s bantamweight card between Sarah Moras and Ashlee Evans-Smith was also added to the event. Moras is coming off a loss to Jessica Andrade, while Evans-Smith is looking to rebound from a decision defeat to Ketlen Vieira.

UFC 216 will be staged at Rogers Place in Edmonton, Alberta on Saturday, September 9th. So far, no main event or co-main event has been linked to the card.
