The vacant bantamweight championship will be contested for at UFC 238.
As expected, UFC flyweight champion Henry Cejudo will face No. 1-ranked 135-pounder Marlon Moraes. The fight takes place at UFC 238 on pay-per-view (PPV). UFC 238 goes down from the United Center in Chicago, Illinois on June 8, 2019. The promotion made the news official on Instagram today (Wed. March 27, 2019):
Cejudo is currently on a four-fight win streak. “The Messenger” became the first man to defeat Demetrious “Mighty Mouse” Johnson at 125 pounds back in August, scoring a split decision victory and the 125-pound throne. Cejudo followed that up with a first-round TKO win over then-bantamweight champion TJ Dillashaw in his first career title defense.
The pair were expected to rematch with Dillashaw’s title on the line this time, however, due to “The Viper” failing a United States Anti-Doping Agency (USADA) drug test, he vacated the strap. Enter Moraes. The Brazilian knockout artist is on a four-fight win streak at the moment.
His latter three victories have all been first round finishes. He has proven to be one of the more exciting fighters at 135 pounds. It will be interesting to see how me matches up with Cejudo with the championship on the line.
