Olympic gold medalist Henry Cejudo won’t be back in the cage in August.
The decorated wrestler, who was set to headline the Legacy FC 34 card in Tunica, Miss., on Aug. 29, against Bellator and Strikeforce veteran Brian Hall, withdrew from the card for undisclosed reasons.
Legacy FC owner Mick Maynard confirmed the news to MMAFighting.com, revealing that undefeated Pedro Souza has signed with the promotion and will meet Hall on Aug. 29.
Hall (6-2) last competed in a third-round TKO victory over Cortez Phelia at Bellator 120. Souza (12-0) makes his Legacy FC debut after scoring 11 stoppages wins in 12 bouts since March of 2011.
There is no word on when Cejudo will be back in action. The undefeated prospect was set to battle for the Legacy FC flyweight championship against Damacio Page on June 13, but withdrew from the bout. Cejudo won four straight as a bantamweight before signing with Legacy FC, but failed to make 125 pounds in both of his recent fights under the promotion’s banner.
