Marlon Moraes may have not gotten off to the best start with Ultimate Fighting Championship (UFC) in his debut, losing to Raphael Assuncao at UFC 212, but the former World Series of Fighting (WSOF) champion has made up for it ever since. After edging out John Dodson via split decision in his following bout, Moraes found himself face-to-face with Aljamain Sterling, the rising Bantamweight contender who had just inked a new UFC contract extension.

After a high-paced opening minute, Moraes found himself fighting off an armbar attempt from “Funkmaster,” who was looking to end the bout early. Once back on the feet, Sterling went in for a takedown attempt only to get clipped by a perfectly placed knee to the face, putting him out cold.

I mean he was seeing stars.

The devastating finish was good enough to earn UFC’s “Knockout of the Week” ahead of Moraes’ main event showdown against top 145-pound contender Jimmie Rivera, which is set for UFC Fight Night 131 this Friday (June 1, 2018) in Utica, New York.
