To the victor belong the spoils!
Newly-crowned UFC light heavyweight champion Glover Teixeira returned home to Connecticut this week, just a few days removed from his submission victory over Jan Blachowicz in the UFC 267 main event last weekend in Abu Dhabi.
Safe to say the residents of Danbury were happy to see him.
“Thank you so much for the this everybody from Danbury and Bethel,” Teixeira wrote on social media. “Grato a todos que me receberam com alegria.”
Teixeira, 42, is expected to make his first 205-pound title defense against light heavyweight smashing machine Jiri Prochazka in early 2022, though an official date and location have yet to be revealed.
Watch them come face-to-face backstage right here.
“I always wondered what it would be like to be champion and how I would feel the day after the fight,” Teixeira said. “Now I know, and it feels pretty damn good!”
Blachowicz, meanwhile, has already a potential suitor for next February.
