Former NFL football star Herschel Walker (1-0) will meet Scott Carson (4-1) in a heavyweight bout at the upcoming Dec. 4th Strikeforce: Henderson vs. Babalu event at the Scottrade Center in St. Louis, Mo.
Strikeforce CEO Scott Coker broke the news on Friday, confirming Walker’s opponent to ESPN.com.
The 48 year old Walker made his mixed martial arts debut last January against Greg Nagy at the Strikeforce: Miami event, scoring a third round TKO (strikes) win over the younger opponent.
“I want to show that my experience level has increased a good deal. I’ve become a much better MMA fighter. Last time, I was very green. This time, I’m going to be more skilled and have a lot more to display in the Strikeforce cage.”
His opponent, 40 year old Carson, has only fought once in the past nine years, which was a knockout loss. He became involved in the sport of mma in the 1990’s earning three victories between 1999 – 2001. Carson had dropped out of the sport because of a back injury but will be ready to face Walker on Dec. 4th.
