hershelwalkerx9Forty-eight-year-old Herschel Walker (1-0) had been scheduled for his second professional mixed martial arts bout on Dec. 4th against Scott Carson (4-1), but the former NFL football star was cut in training and had to withdraw from the event.

Now MMAjunkie.com is reporting that both men have verbally agreed to reschedule their fight for Strikeforce’s end January show. Sources close to the fight told them that verbal agreements have been made and an official contract should be signed soon.

Walker, who trains at the American Kickboxing Academy with the likes of Cain Velasquez, Jon Fitch, and Josh Koscheck, will have made his professional mma debut almost one year-ago to the day when he faces Carson. The 1982 Heisman Trophy winner debuted on the televised card of the Strikeforce: Miami show earning a third round TKO win over Greg Nagy.

Carson takes his second fight after a nine year absence due to a back injury. Healed up and rehabbed, Carson is ready to make a successful return to the sport. He returned this past June to suffer his first professional loss by knockout at a local event in Los Angeles.

The upcoming Jan. 29th Strikeforce show has not been given a title as of yet but the event is expected to take place at the HP Pavilion in San Jose, Calif. with the main card being shown on Showtime.
